Nails Just Nailed It | Paris Hilton Nail Polish Review

To be honest, I have never been to a salon/spa for a manicure or pedicure session because applying nail polish is like art therapy for me. So I do it myself. 😉

I also don’t buy branded nail polishes because I only wear them for about a week before they start chipping off since I do a lot of household chores. This set of nail polishes was a gift to me, and I must say it’s the perfect brand for all workaholic ladies out there.

Aside from the beautiful colors to choose from, these unscented nail polishes are very easy to apply and dry up quickly. They also last long, but I do not suggest wearing nail polish for an extended time because it can damage your nails.

No nail polish and also my first time growing my nails this long.

Pink Feet

These photos were taken when I was still in Manila. So my hands still look flawless here. lol Now that I am a gardener, these hands are tanned and a bit worn out from doing some gardening tasks.

These hands and feet remind me, too, that there will come a time when they will all be wrinkly and bony. Because as Scripture said, “from dust we came, from dust we shall return (Genesis 3:19).”

Indeed, may God “teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12) and start doing things that truly matter such as extending a helping hand to those who need it, with nail polish or not. 😉🙏

10 Things I Have Learned From Men

image

"His and Hers"

1. Never ask your boyfriend/husband “Ms. Universe” questions when he is sleepy or about to sleep because he’ll surely give you either an answer he didn’t mean, he will give you a silent response or he will sleep grumpy.

2. Men hate bringing a big, bulky and heavy baggage if there is no need so most likely he will hate you for bringing your whole room and your whole world inside your bag every time you have a date and he’ll have to carry it.

3. When you ask them how’s your cooking and it is bad, they’ll give you uncertain answers – neither a yes or a no but if it’s good they’ll shout a “Busog!” afterwards even if you don’t ask them how was it.

4. Men don’t care if they accidentally worn their shirt inside out even if you tell them they have worn it the wrong way.

5. Don’t let them ask for directions, they will just continue getting lost or they’ll ask a different question.

6. They hate nail polishes that only 1/8 are remaining on your nails.

7. With the 1 thousand not-so-important things you have told him, only about 10 will he remember.

8. They love tinkering new stuff without reading the manual first.

9. They just love inventing their own lyrics of a song.

10. Waking them up is not a problem. They cope well even if it is a disturbed sleep.

P.S.

Men pray short, concise prayers. Women pray long, dramatic prayers. 😉

(This article does not totally represent men in general. I arrived with these conclusions as observed from the men in my life: my Dad, my brother and my fiance.) 🙂

The Grey Thoughts

Grey Areas

I cannot, for certain reasons, make myself read about “Mr. Grey.” No offense to those who take fancy and a general liking on the book. But I am afraid if its theme is to devalue women by means of female subordination and male chauvinism through eroticism, then I guess I am one with the thousands who are against it. I know for certain I will be coming up with a review regarding my disapproval on its general content criticizing how it primarily identifies women as sexual objects.

Would I be considered bias and a sexist if I’d rather choose to empower women in knowing their self-worth, boost their self-esteem and have that self-respect through Christ, their skills, God-given talents and capabilities and through them and them alone? And would it be wrong to go against the norms and assert my rights as a woman in a patriarchal system? Is it possible then to have a paradigm shift? They say that for a paradigm shift to take place, there has to be a change in mentality first. And for the latter, I believe culture has a huge role in it.

Back in college, majority of the classes I took are literary pieces that centered on feminism and women empowerment. And I’d like to give credit to some of the major novels we have discussed that made a great impact on me in terms of philosophical influences – possibly the main reason why I am rationalizing the way I do now.

I suggest the all-time classical movies – Jane Eyre; Little Women; Mona Lisa Smile and the more contemporary Eat, Pray, Love for good selections on what it means to be a woman. Great novels, they are.

Or better yet, read Proverbs 31. This last one, I highly recommend. 🙂
