A Deadly Kind Of Love

Because I’m a deviant (in a positive way), I tend to challenge the norm. Society’s norms dictate love poems be all mushy and romantic. But how about if we put a little twist to them? Here’s how it’s gonna look like:

A DEADLY KIND OF LOVE

by Christine Lailani

Can I stab you with love?

Or maybe choke you with joy?

What if I silence you with kisses?

Or hit you with sweetness?

Do I burn you with passion?

Strike you with compassion?

Then break you with kindness?

But crush you with gentleness?

And we all know how the story ended – they still lived happily ever after. But thankfully, nobody died. 😅

This is my lame attempt to copy a scene from Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. I was asleep when my college prof was discussing the play in class, so I just gave the plot a new twist. lol

And please no, not the balcony. It’s overrated. I’ll leave the setting to your imagination. 🖤

So, if you still felt alive after reading this poem, then let’s do a cha-cha. 💃

Seclusion and Inclusion

Secluded from the blogosphere, included in the rat race. Hello, readers! 🙂

This may not be the comeback post I am rooting to write about, but it definitely will spearhead the activities that transpired months back – jam-packed.

I normally post “heavier”  and lengthier posts but this will be a divergence from the norm so do allow me to post it short and sweet, uhm, subtle might be the term for it.

Thus, my temporary adieu. 😉

Angel, Did You?

FinalFeather

Angel, did you…?

Did you graze upon our home and left this proof of your presence? 😀

Okay, now this belongs to a bird, a small one, which frequents my little garden at the back of our apartment to get bits of a pot made from coconut husk to build for its nest.

But for angels, it oftentimes occurred to me that they do exist with us except that they are not the ones which we commonly imagine or how angels are portrayed in children’s books – with wings of fluffy feathers as white as snow and with silken, long white robe.

I have read in the book of Revelation  that angels are actually very huge beings which do not take the form of a human. They usually come in a bright light which, I believe, is where the “white figure”  idea of an angel came from.

I know angels can also be spirits and yet there is only one Spirit that lives in all of us – that which is of Jesus Christ, the one He sent to be with us when it was time for Him to physically take leave of this world and be with His Father in Heaven.

But then again, childhood memories are not easy to erase. Though I believe in the Spirit and acknowledge His presence in my life everyday, I will still stick with my bright, feathery angel and this photo I’ve randomly taken will remind me of that. 😉 ❤

“The angel of the LORD encamps around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” – Psalms 34:7

P.S.

I don’t have any formal training in photography and I just shoot when I want with what I want on who I want. But I guess you don’t have to travel far and be in grand and new places to enhance your photography skills. Same thing with writing. I was trained to write scholarly and academic papers back in college and even now in my graduate study and the jargon is totally different to that of feature writing like this one which has a very casual tone.

But in life, faith in God and experiences taught me more than the technicalities of photography and writing per se for they taught me more about one thing – appreciation. It was actually my faith followed by my transformation/salvation that brought this blog to life, not to impress readers nor gain followers and likes but to express my thoughts and honor my God.

I was then urged to make the mundane interesting by appreciating what is already in front of me a.k.a. what I can make out of what I already have – God’s love. This is what I call the by-product of “eyes being opened.”

Then, everything becomes worth capturing – they all now have a story to tell. All we have to do is take on the Spirit’s leading in His ways and in His time when to share them. 🙂

Some Photography Tips on Anything MACRO

Tin Ginete

ILoveU

I particularly love macro shots. I believe it is one area of photography that I learned first before I even began learning all about the “rule of thirds,” etc. 🙂

My favorite would be this macro shot of Made in Candy‘s “I Love You” candy which is about 2 centimeters big in diameter. I only use a regular 32mm lens and if there is one item in my birthday wishlist that I would like to have, that would be a telephoto zoom lens. *wishful thinking* 😉

I oftentimes use manual focus because I get to choose which part of the subject I like to highlight as well as the areas where I would put more emphasis on. Bokeh is also a favorite photography tip of mine when taking macro shots. It doesn’t completely blur the background and your background still has texture and patterns on it. Although a “clean” background does have its benefits too especially in pictorials and if you wanted to give extra focus on particular details of the subject like the texture of the fabric, intricate design of a piece of jewelry or to highlight the makeup of the model.

Just like in the photo below, I wanted to achieve a smooth progression of my subject and the background. The subject (keys) are detailed enough so to highlight them I opted for a soft blur contrary to a bokeh background. Always use your camera’s f-stop feature to change aperture settings and achieve a blurry background. I tend to do this manually as well.

But as for me, I don’t really follow rules in photography. And neither am I a professional photographer. I simply point and shoot and rely on my eye for the aesthetics. 😉 I cross-process my photos though using Photoshop but I only use it for color enhancements. And I watch tutorials re tips in capturing challenging photos i.e. moving objects, waterfalls, long exposures, etc. Keep in mind as well reminders from professional photographers you randomly meet during pictorials and events or even from a friend who is more experienced in this field.

If you love photography or just starting to love it, I suggest just go with what you enjoy taking photos of. In time, your shots will become better. Just keep on taking photos, keep on learning and keep on exploring. 🙂

This is in fact what makes my blogging experience worthwhile and awesome – versatility. 🙂

My Very Own Pizza @ Project Pie

Since I intend to make this blog as versatile and as diverse as it can be, I am doing this food review (not sponsored) and of course, to share the experience that me and my siblings had at Project Pie. 🙂

Design. Build. Eat.

Why Project Pie?

From the name itself, it literally means working on a pie. Yes, as simple as that. But the only difference is that you get to create your own pizza by choosing your own ingredients.  Which could be pretty tedious and tasking, by the way, if you are the type who needs a long period of time before you decide (like me). Good thing though that at that time, the queue for placing orders was a bit long. I had ample time to decide which is which.  😉

They offer a wide array of ingredients from various types of cheese to a whole lot of meat and vegetable toppings. They also serve your pizza in a thin crust with all its crispy goodness.  Oh and yes, you get to choose what sauce you prefer for your pizza like white or red sauce. Isn’t it fantastic?

And what my siblings and I did is that we “exchanged” a little portion of our pizzas so we get to try all different combinations. Aha! Now, that gives you an idea. 😉

And their tea, which is your own preference if you want it iced or hot, complements just right with the pizza. 🙂

So, what else am I missing out…

Ahh, yes. The interiors. I pretty much love the cozy, and yet very modern design of the restaurant. It is not lavishly decorated but will surely capture your attention with its mellow lights. These little hanging bulbs look just like tiny fireflies to me. Though I also contemplated if it is possible to adopt this design to my own home someday. Hmm..

And yes, the “scripted wall.” This is that very interesting wall of quotations which made me laugh amusingly as most of them are very ironically written. Just the right optimistic/pessimistic/as-a-matter-of-fact/practical way of analyzing things. 😉

If I can just stare at that wall oblivious of the people around me, I would. Just so I could read all of them. They have like a hundred of them, scriptures! Tsk, far too many. But you can read some of them below. Enjoy! 😀

OH and before I forget, JAPHET AGUILAR, LA TENORIO and other PBA (Philippine Basketball Association) basketball players were there too. I am no high school/fan girl but I can’t help but feel so head over heels, admirer mode when I saw Japhet. He is simple, very cute and absolutely TALL! A 7-footer is indeed a head-turner, plus good looks – that is enough to make you swoon. *faints*

Okay, I think I’ll stop here for now because this is a food blog post, not a showbiz article. *teehee* Just sharin’. 😉
