About The Author

To My Dearest Followers and Readers,

Hi, I’m Tin, and welcome to my blog! You came across this page because you wanted to know more about me, right? Yawning while reading this is acceptable but don’t leave the page just yet! 🙂

For starters, I know you’re curious why I named this blog “The Journeyman’s Moments.” I never really thought much about the name of my personal blog when I started to put it up. I didn’t even intend on being a consistent blogger. 😉

I just thought I need to have my own space, too, in the blogosphere and share snippets of what I do. Little did I know God has a purpose behind it all – my blog as a megaphone for my faith. So back to the “journeyman,” I was thinking what will describe my blog which is all about my lifelong learning and my day-to-day journey in this world. I started doing my research and caught a glimpse of the word “journeyman.” I made a quick research about it then I thought it’ll be good enough for now, I can change it any time anyway.

BUT little did I know, too, that this word will mean so much more. God always has a reason for allowing things to happen. And always, it is to satisfy His purpose. As of writing (1/25/2018), I made an in-depth study of the word and it all dawned on me now why it has to be “journeyman.” Here’s the link to Wikipedia’s definition of it so you’d get the context: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Journeyman.

If you will notice, I described my blog with this:

“The musings of a wandergeselle about faith, literature, music, dancing, culture, food, travels, art, fashion, photography, life experiences and everything in between from journée to journée.”

A “wandergeselle” is a wandering journeyman – someone who is always in different places to learn something new. I have been in different seasons and places (locally) since I started this blog. It brought me to new people, new experiences, and new learnings which all made me into who I am now. I am still learning. And I am a true-blue journeyman in my profession. I also have other obligations outside work which require me to be a journeyman, too. But through it all, I submit to one Master who teaches me everything that I needed to know – GOD. 🙂

I also never thought about the background photo or the logo for my blog except for my photoshopped picture of a road and my randomly chosen bible verse closer to my life verse:

“I am confident that the good work that God has begun in me will be perfected.” – Philippians 1:6

Reading it now made me realize that this verse also speaks about being on a journey with my Maker and my Master. It is indeed true that when you let go and let God take charge of your life when you surrendered to Him, He will and He will be the orchestrator of your new life – the One behind the steering wheel. We may not understand His ways at first, but our obedience will show our love for our God and our faith in Him. So when the Spirit tells your heart something, always, always take heed. 🙂

If you’re thinking I will end here, well, sorry to burst your bubble, dear friends, but I am actually just getting started. lol 😀 The following texts will describe who I really am as a person. Enjoy reading and I hope to know you more, too, so do drop a comment when you’re done! ❤

Describing the nature of my entity would require a dissertation-long-kind-of-essay. Beat that. *wink* Nah, I am just kidding. But of course, I’ll try to come up with a shorter one for your own comfort and convenience. 🙂

I am utterly and completely complex. I am partly an extrovert and partly an introvert. For the percentage, I can say I am more of an introvert. I also tend to shy away from people. I don’t like and haven’t felt the need to socialize and be with so many people. I was never and never will be a big fan of the idea which is to be the center of attention or be in the limelight. I do get to hang out every now and then with a small group of friends though. No man is an island as they would say. The keys to our own survival: God, your special someone, family, and friends. Yet words and thoughts flow freely through an ink and a paper.

This is where my passion for writing comes in. It is the outlet for all of my unsaid thoughts – from composing poems to creative writing to blogging. Literature is one avenue that I’ve grown quite familiar with. I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in this field (after 6 grueling years, whew). Aside from writing, music heals my soul. The guitar and the organ accompany me most of the time (the guitar, most especially). It is easier to just grab the guitar and strum your song of the day. I compose my own songs, too, from the poems I’ve created. But I don’t do this often anymore. Dancing would be next in line. I have been exposed to folk dancing in my early years and just recently tried street dancing for a change. Quite the complete opposite, right? But it was such a very fun experience. Can you guess my current exercise routine? Yep, you guessed that right – Zumba classes.

The arts, culture, and aesthetics interest me a lot. I have a thirst for knowledge and a passion for learning. Where or how, you may ask, do I learn? This was made possible by being a wide reader and by observing people and things around me a lot. I actually find it quite interesting to be the person in the ‘background’ and watch every individual from afar. It allows me to view these people as to how they really are as an individual.

To be able to observe and to learn would require someone to move around, explore things, learn about different cultures, and know the stories of other people. Commuting and being in different places is the key to that.

But as much as I like moving around, I also love to lay idle and be a true-blue homebody i.e. take photos, try new cuisines, cook, sketch, paint, decorate the house, try new interior design ideas, make fashion illustrations, create origami, do gardening stuff, and commune with nature. But a huge contrast as this may sound though, I also love doing outdoor sports and experience that temporary ‘high.’

I am partly an optimist and partly a cynic. I usually am a risk taker. But I have my “down” times, too. I cram. I’m a self-confessed procrastinator. But I do plan ahead of time, organize everything, and make sure I am getting to where I wanted to be.

I crave for simplicity – being with people who are true to themselves and can appreciate the beauty and goodness of every single thing that exists. Personality and attitude over looks. Quality over quantity. Sentimentality over materialism.

I am a dreamer who dreams of perfection but to say that would be to relinquish most of my imperfections, too. Quite impossible, I have my own weaknesses. We all have. But I pursue where I do good and not the other way around.

On a professional level, I am a Licensed Secondary Education (major in English) Professional Teacher, but I shifted careers and pursued my passion for writing instead. I also took a Master’s Degree in Education major in Special Education at the University of the Philippines, Diliman in 2010. But I wasn’t able to complete my master’s thesis because God called me to another calling – to be a wife in 2015.

I am now working as a content writer (digital marketing) and have also contributed articles for Daily PS, When in Manila, and Definitely Filipino. You can check out my other published articles in the “Other Published Articles” section.

The gist of it all is this – I am complicated, complex, not too interesting yet never too boring. Just right. Still awake? *wink*

Seriously though, I aim to be free, shine, ascend, and yet stay rooted. I always keep in mind that God provides us with nothing but the best even during the most complicated situations. So make every single minute, every opportunity and every blessing count. My gratitude will always extend most to Him.

I will continue serving Him and serve others as well until it is time for me to leave this world. There is no identity that I wish to carry except that I have been saved by the Cross because I am God’s daughter. Moreover, this blog won’t be made possible if it wasn’t for my faith and God. As my life verse goes:

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” – Philippians 4:13

Thus, in everything, to God be the Glory always. 🙂

I hope that as we journey together through this blog, it’ll give you a whole new take on a lot of things. Enjoy reading! ❤

LOTS OF LOVE,

Christine Lailani

I’m planning a post later this week, Thursday or Friday, which outlines the recognition. Would you accept?
